A comprehensive guided walk (2 hours) through Dunedin's old downtown. Learn what has shaped Dunedin, view iconic buildings and streetscapes, and visit sensitively redeveloped spaces. Departs 10.30am from the Dunedin isite, daily except Sundays.

Meet experienced guide, Athol Parks, at the Dunedin isite Visitor Centre (50 The Octagon). Athol will place Dunedin in physical and historical context, then lead you on a two-hour stroll through the city's old main streets, to finish at the remarkable Dunedin Railway Station. En route you'll encounter other fine buildings, including First Church, St. Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin's (and New Zealand's) first synagogue, the former National and Bank of New Zealand banks, Garrison Hall, and more; visit important public spaces including The Exchange and Queens Gardens; look towards Dunedin's warehouse precinct; meet the locals; view street art and explore sensitively redeveloped spaces. This walk provides the essential introduction to Dunedin.
