Wylde Willow Garden

A garden of National Significance as assessed by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. A large country garden featuring a vast variety of plants and design features, -the work of a passionate home gardener.

The delightful Abbotsford Creek menaders for a half kilometre through this large country garden. Inviting paths follow the picturesque creek through a woodland of hundreds of rhododedrons, maples and cornus all underplanted with shade loving perennials. Hundred year old willows stand guard filtering the sunlight. Further down the pathway an indigenous planting gives the native birds a reason to stay.

Up stream wander through magnolias and viburmums to discover a collection of heritage roses, many which have been saved from old New Zealand gold mining cemeteries. Emcompassing the house are several rooms of cottage gardens each with a differing colour scheme. An arboretum and a large beautifully planted pond end the walk through this garden
