A beautiful heritage building in the heart of the city, the Regent Theatre is one of Dunedin’s most beloved institutions. The Theatre, a Category 1 Historic Building, regularly hosts a variety of events including live music and theatre, prize givings, project launches, conferences, festivals, community events and many more.
The complex consists of three buildings – the original Ross building (1876), the theatre auditorium (1928) and the fly tower, stage and dressing rooms (1980-81). The various spaces and rooms in these three buildings lend themselves to stretching your imagination ensuring your conference is utterly memorable.
The immaculately restored auditorium seats 1617 people and, combined with full audio-visual accessories, including a cinema-size screen, is a luxurious setting for any type of conference or event. The auditorium is fan-shaped, meaning all seats have a clear view of the stage and screen. A practical function room on the first floor of the Ross building has external access and can be easily split into two spaces. It has both kitchen and bar areas to make sure the day runs smoothly.
The many back stage areas, which include the Green Room, six dressing rooms and a large assembly area, allow for break out spaces, team building exercises, enchanting dinner or cocktail events as well as smaller lectures or meetings. These rooms also have adjacent rest rooms and several have kitchenette facilities.
The Regent Theatre’s central location means it has easy access to other conference venues, entertainment, cafes, parking and transport options.
