Fan Zone

Feeling excited? Make the most of your day with the Octagon Fan Experience.

Kick Off at the Octagon | 12pm – 6.30pm

Kick Off at the Octagon is your ultimate pre-match fan zone, transforming the heart of the city into a buzzing celebration of rugby, community, and fun. This R18+ event will bring the Octagon to life with live music, food trucks and a pop-up bar, creating an electric atmosphere as the countdown to kick-off begins.

Walking Bus  | 4:30pm and 6:00pm

Don't miss the walking bus from the Octagon, a spirited fan parade led by a bagpiper, guiding the crowd down George Street to Forsyth Barr Stadium in true game-day style.

Transport and Parking

Parking restrictions will be in place in the immediate vicinity of Forsyth Barr Stadium from 3pm, Saturday 5th July and offending vehicles will be towed from the event area. Please check all on-street signs before parking your vehicle. Traffic will be heavy, so the closer you park to the stadium, the longer it will take you to leave the area after the match. Forsyth Barr Stadium

There will be a temporary alcohol ban in force around the wider Forsyth Barr Stadium area on the event day.

When will the gates open at Forsyth Barr Stadium?

Public gates open at 5pm. Check your ticket ahead of time to make sure you go to the correct gate. All bags will be searched upon entry. Intoxication assessments will be carried out at the gates and throughout the event. Enjoy the night — but take it easy so you don’t miss out on the entertainment.

What Food & Beverage Can I Bring?

  • Sealed/unopened plastic water bottles up to 1 litre in size (empty, non-glass, personal drink containers up to 1 litre in size are permitted and can be refilled once inside the stadium).
  • Homemade food or special foods, i.e. to cater for dietary requirements or baby food.

What Can't I bring?

  • Bags over 42cm x 42cm in size.
  • Signs, flags & banners containing obscene, offensive, or abusive content.
  • Glass – this includes perfume bottles.
  • Umbrellas are not permitted into the stadium for safety reasons. Rain ponchos and jackets are recommended.
  • Any type of camera with a detachable or extended lens regardless of size.
  • Audio/visual recording equipment (does not include mobile phones), Ipad’s, tablets and GoPro’s.

Is there disability parking available at Forsyth Barr Stadium?

There are seven mobility parks available in the east end car park, accessible via State Highway 88 for valid mobility parking permit holders. Additional mobility parks are available on Logan Park Drive. You can also drop-off at the stadium near Gate D. If needed, buggy transport is available to get you to your gate – just ask the closest security guard.

The Dunedin i-Site Visitor Centre is located at 50 The Octagon. It is open from 9am to 5pm daily. There are Wifi hotspots around the city and the Octagon.
