Midwinter Carnival
12 - 13 June
This annual event transforms First Church and surrounding grounds into a luminous celebration of light and imagination with large scale installations of lanterns, performance and music. This years festivals theme is Wings of Wonder.
The Taieri Gorge Stargazer
9 and 24 July
Journey beyond the city lights for an evening of dining, rail travel and dark-sky experiences within the Taieri Gorge. Enjoy a gourmet dinner onboard, guided stargazing with Winterstellar, astronomy talks from Tūhura Otago Museum and warm dessert beneath the stars at Hindon.
Matariki mā Puaka

Celebrate Matariki in Ōtepoti with Matariki mā Puaka, where the night sky comes alive with dazzling drone lights, weaving local stories into the stars. Featuring special headline performance by Aotearoa's legendary Tiki Taane.
