Designed especially for you, people working in retail, hospitality and tourism, Discover Dunedin Pass makes it easy (and rewarding) to experience what the city has to offer, so you can talk about it with confidence, make meaningful recommendations, and feel proud to represent Dunedin every day to our visitors. Discover Dunedin Pass is flexible, self-guided and designed to fit around busy lives – making it easy to engage at your own pace while building knowledge, connections and pride in place. From 1 May to 31 August 2026, passholders can take part in a range of experiences across Ōtepoti Dunedin – a perfect fit for the quieter months.

To be eligible, participant must:

Work or volunteer at least 20 hours per week, in Ōtepoti Dunedin’s food and drink, retail, tourism and other related businesses; or
Be approved to participate at the discretion of their manager (Manager’s confirmation of the participant’s role will be required as part of registration).

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND WAIVER

Discover Dunedin Pass, the Industry Familiarisation Programme (the Programme) may include physical activities which involve some risk and personal danger. In order to take part in the Programme, the Participant confirms the following:

I understand that participating in the Programme may involve travel on public and private roads, on or over water bodies, and outdoor and/or physical activities. The hazards include but are not limited to vehicle, boat and/or air traffic, actions of other participants or the general public, weather conditions and my physical and mental state of health.
I agree to abide by the health and safety instructions provided by the famil providers and, to the extent allowed by law release the Dunedin City Council (DCC), the business partners, the famil providers, sponsors, and their external stakeholders from any liability to me (or my successors or assigns) for any injury, damage, or loss (whether direct or indirect) incurred from or as a result of participation in this Programme. I agree to participate at my own risk.
I understand that any photos or videos/digital footage of me may be used by the DCC, sponsors, partners, and operators visited for the promotion of this Programme.
I understand that I may be asked to provide information requested by the DCC and famil providers following my participation in this Programme. This may include being asked to participate in a review or survey.
I understand that these terms shall be governed by and construed according to the laws of New Zealand, and I agree that the Courts of New Zealand shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute which may arise in connection with these terms, unless otherwise agreed by the DCC.
I meet the eligibility criteria and the authorising person from the business has agreed to my participation in this programme.
I agree that I have provided the correct contact information and agree to receive any communications from Dunedin City Council regarding Discover Dunedin Pass including the participation instruction, post-famil surveys, etc.

PRIVACY POLICY

The Dunedin City Council (DCC) collects personal and business information from you, including your name, contact details, employment details that are required to participate in the Industry Familiarisation Programme, Discover Dunedin Pass.

Besides the programme organisers, the DCC may share relevant information as required with other departments that are facilitating the distribution of the pass, strictly for the purpose of activating the Programme.

DCC will collect, use and store your information in accordance with the Privacy Policy, which can be found at www.dunedin.govt.nz/privacy-policy. You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information the DCC holds about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you would like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us at privacy@dcc.govt.nz.

If you choose not to provide your name, correct contact and employment details, your participation may not be registered for Discover Dunedin Pass Programme.
