For over a decade, Erin has proudly called Dunedin home, thriving in this vibrant community alongside her husband, Dave, with whom she founded two businesses. Her journey began on a farm in Mandeville, where her love for creativity blossomed.
She moved to Auckland to dive into dance and travelled around Europe. After a stint in makeup, she discovered her true passion for photography. Dunedin is where her story continues to unfold, and she couldn't ask for a better place to create and grow.

Find out what Erin, founder of Acorn Studio, co-founder of Gravity Events, lover of a cold plunge, creative expert and amateur sourdough baker recommends people do, see, experience and eat when they're exploring Dunedin.

What is Dunedin’s best beach?
Sandfly Bay is my favourite—stunning dunes and rock formations. Plus, seals often pop by to say hi. The hike down is a perfect way to unwind and enjoy nature.

Dunedin does coffee well. Where do you like to get yours from and what’s your order?
I love Common Ground for their locally roasted coffee; it never disappoints. I usually alternate between a long black with cream and a flat white. For something different, Buster Greens has the best matcha in town, and their turmeric drinks are fantastic too.

Best place for a pre/post-event drink?
Woof! is unbeatable! I’ve never had a bad cocktail there, and the cozy booths are perfect for catching up with friends.

Your number one Dunedin must-do or place you’d take friends or family who are visiting?
I’d definitely take them to Larnach Castle for its stunning views, beautiful gardens, and the scenic drive out there. If time allows, I love booking local classes like a pottery session at The Pottery by Mariel for a fun experience with friends, a barre class at Barre Base to get moving, or a florist class at Estelle Flowers for something creative.

Best hidden gem?
The Nicols Creek Glow Worms create a magical nighttime experience.

What’s your favourite Dunedin boutique or designer?
I highly recommend Keryn from Riverbend Flora, a local florist who creates beautiful bespoke jewellery with her sister-in-law, a designer. I adore her Sweet Pea necklace; it’s perfect for layering and versatile enough for both day and night looks. For shopping, Slick Willy's is another great spot that has you covered.

Where do you go for a little bit of culture?
Local artist Meg Gallagher has taken my interest lately with her painting on denim. For galleries, Olga and Gallery De Novo are fantastic spots to explore and curate well.
