Tourism Dunedin attends MEETINGS in Auckland this week, where they and other local businesses will be updating the conference and business events industry on Dunedin’s new product, heritage venues, contemporary spaces and activities relevant to this increasingly important market.
Meetings is New Zealand’s only national business tourism event for the conference, meetings, events, exhibition and travel incentive industry.
Over two days, national conference and event organisers will meet with the Dunedin Convention Bureau, a marketing function within Tourism Dunedin and their business partners; Larnach Castle, the Edgar Centre, Forsyth Barr Stadium and the recently reopened Dunedin Centre incorporating the Dunedin Town Hall as well as the team from the Southland Convention Bureau.
Tourism Dunedin’s Chief Executive Hamish Saxton said, “This event, encompassing a series of business-to-business appointments of 15 minutes, has the potential to write future business for Dunedin. There has been increased interest in Dunedin as a business events destination in light of the recent refurbishment and reopening of the Dunedin Centre and Town Hall. Dunedin is easily the South Island’s premiere destination for significant business events, and will remain so until the proposed conference centre developments in Christchurch and Queenstown materialise and compete for business.”
Meetings 2013 runs from 26th – 27th June, and is held at the Skycity Convention Centre.
