An innovative engineering sector continues to support Dunedin’s economy, attracting skilled workers and competing both nationally and internationally.

Engineers have been plying their trade in Dunedin since the goldfield days over 150 years ago. Starting with very little, those early immigrants began a tradition of collaborating to build innovative solutions, developing a cooperative and pioneering spirit that has soaked right through to the bones of the local engineering sector.

Dunedin Engineering Cluster

Approximately 50 engineering companies are active members of Engineering Dunedin Incorporated, a cluster of companies working closely together to promote growth in the industry and attract new blood.
