For the young ones
Otago Museum
The Otago Museum’s Discovery World and The Tropical Forest are Dunedin’s hottest attractions and will bring your family face to face with more than 1000 butterflies. Some will even land on you to say hello. And, once you have explored the Tropical Forest take your time and test your skills with some of the many interactive exhibits in Discovery World.
Cadbury Chocolate Factory
tempt the taste buds with a visit to Cadbury World, and see how some of the country’s favourite chocolates are made, all here in Dunedin. Look at the unique chocolate fountain, have a guided factory tour, and taste some of the chocolates (some would say the best part!).
Kids a bit older?
If the children are a bit older, then Dunedin has much to offer them as well - explore as a group, have a girls or boys afternoon out, or send them on their way with a bit of spending money.
The following recommendations are best left to those who are over 18:
The Speight’s Tour is an award-winning, fascinating and interactive tour through a historic working brewery. It’s a fully-guided 90-minute experience that lets you explore everything about one of our biggest icons - the original home of New Zealand’s oldest beer.

Big kids love Dunedin – we’ve got a whole university full of them after-all! Our beaches and mountains are excellent platforms for sporting adventures, whilst Dunedin’s rich history as an arts and music hub means offers for quality entertainment are aplenty.
