The Southern Festival of Speed event is unique as it is the only car race in New Zealand where a main motorway is shut down in order to hold the race. Dunedin Heritage Festival

Dunedin’s third Heritage Festival, will be held in March 2011 over Otago Anniversary weekend, and will mark the sesquicentennial of the discovery of the first payable gold in New Zealand. The festival in Dunedin, titled ‘Layers of Gold’, will go hand in hand with celebratory activities planned for Lawrence at Gabriel’s Gully over the same weekend.
