A Dunedin man's YouTube fame

Wednesday, 26 October 2011

A Dunedin man's "nek minnit" saying has gone mainstream thanks to a nine-second YouTube clip.

The clip, now viewed more than a million times on YouTube, has Dunedin skateboarder Levi Hawken saying he left his "scooter outside the diary... nek minnit", then showing a broken scooter on the ground.

He said the catch phrase had been absorbed into the mainstream, just like skating, and was "part of New Zealand now", with a friend in the Middle East telling him it was being used over there.
