The Lone Star has been serving up legendary meals here in Dunedin since 1993 and has earned its place as one of Dunedin’s most loved dining experiences.

This week I couldn’t wait to head to the Lone Star. It has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and if I ever have family or friends come to visit from out of town or overseas, I like to bring them here for an experience they won’t forget.

With dishes such as Dixie Chicken, Rockin Ribeye and my favorite the Redneck Ribs, you can’t help but want to try them. If you haven’t already tried the ribs, they are an experience! The ribs are blanched in honey and spices then blasted in the Lone Star furnace and smothered with their legendary hoisin, orange and sesame seed sauce. To top it off they are served with their famous Buffalo Chips and Slaw. Now to give you an idea on how popular these are, the Lone Star goes through around 200kgs of ribs a week! (They are that good!)

Now as you all know I love food, but I also think service goes hand in hand with the overall experience when you eat out. I would have to say the service at the Lone Star is like no other, I love the fact that everyone is greeted at the door and are made to feel welcome. The staff know exactly what they are talking about when it comes to the menu and go out of their way to make sure you have a great time with great food.

Now some people might think that places just roll out the red carpet treatment because they know I’m coming, but I can honestly say I’ve been getting the same consistent service at the Lone Star as far back as I can remember!

It’s hard to fit in all the cool things that the Lone Star has going for it, so the best thing to say is just get along and try it for yourself and I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed.
