This reserve is a private conservation effort to save the world's most endangered penguin from extinction and is funded through profits from this tour operation. We offer you the opportunity to visit a working conservation programme. To experience and photograph undisturbed activity at close range through a unique swystem of hides and tunnels. With your support we are able to replant breeding habitat, building nesting sites, trap predators, care for sick and neglected birds and carry out our own research programme. It is our hope that through this work, the future of this rare and wonderful bird will be assured.

Sam's Evening Wildlife Tour is a personalized small group tour in our landrover, 'Betsie', across rugged farmland adjacent to spectacular coastal scenery. Everything is totally natural. Wildlife, including seals, New Zealand sea lions, Yellow Eyed Penguins and other birdlife are viewed so as not to disturb them or their habitat. Sam has lived all his life in the area so is able to share the wealth of knowledge that he has about the wildlife, history and farming.
