Moana Pool has a range of swimming areas, a multitude of fitness facilities, lots of training courses and entertainments for children. Situated in Littlebourne Road, it was built in the early 1960's on the site of the old Moana Tennis Club, hence the name. Costing approximately 450,000 pounds, the pool facilities were a replacement for the tepid pools, built in 1914 and situated in Lower Moray place, which were seen as being inadequate for the needs of Dunedin. Moana Pool was opened on the 14th of November 1964 and was of Olympic dimensions of 165ft by 58ft.

The pool is open during the summer months from Labour Weekend to the end of March. The pool is 25m long, the water is a mix of sea and fresh water which is treated with chlorine, filtered and heated to 28 degrees celcius. The pool has been used by the people of Dunedin since the late 1800's. Situated right on the edge of St Clair Beach the facility offers a lap/fun pool, toddlers pool, sun deck, BBQ area and a Cafe.
