New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame

The New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame in Dunedin is where our sporting past comes to life. The Hall is housed in the historic Dunedin Railway Station and includes exhibits and displays on sporting champions who have been inducted from more than 30 sports. The Hall is, in effect, the national sports museum the only one of its kind in New Zealand. It began in Wellington in 1990 and worked out of an office for eight years before opening as a museum in the Dunedin Railway Station in 1999. Annual induction ceremonies are televised nationally. Among the Hall's collection are rare Olympic medals and other items from sports champions. It includes even the arm guard worn by All Black Colin Meads when he played a test with a broken arm. Exclusive merchandise is also available for purchase providing gifts not available elsewhere. The Hall is available for hire for that unique corporate function; invaluable for entertaining valued clients. The Hall is open 10am to 4pm daily except Christmas Day.
