11.30am: See unique New Zealand and international art at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. The New Zealand collection includes pieces by Rita Angus, C F Goldie and occupying a special place is the work of Frances Hodgkins, whose father founded the Gallery and who was born and raised locally before moving to England.

Picnic lunch
12.30pm: Pick up fresh bread and local Whitestone cheese for a picnic lunch at Queens Gardens, home to the city’s war monument and centre of ANZAC day commemorations.
