Dunedin is situated on State Highway One, the main highway in New Zealand. Into Dunedin you can either come from Christchurch in the north or Invercargill in the south.

Road conditions are excellent. Good quality, uncongested roads. A few gravel roads exist in rural areas. New Zealanders drive on the left hand side of the road. The following estimated driving times allow for ‘comfort’ stops but not sightseeing:
