Dunedin is located on the south east coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

The recently refurbished Dunedin International Airport, winner of the 2006 Airport of the Year award, is located 30 minutes drive south of Dunedin City.

Dunedin International Airport takes pride in becoming a gateway through which visitors will pass in search of a holiday in New Zealand’s south. Accessing southern destinations via Dunedin offers closeness, convenience and cost effectiveness. And there’s more than one way to go which means tourists need not spend time backtracking over country they’ve already seen.

Dunedin International Airport is situated 30 kilometres south of Dunedin City and is an approximate 30 minute drive. Shuttle services operate from a common rank, generally after each scheduled arrival. All shuttles welcome pre bookings and group rates may be negotiable. Prices vary from $15 to $60 per person one way. Taxi’s also operate from a common rank with typical fares being $55 - $60 one way. There are also several major and minor rental car/truck companies that are located at, or service the ariport.

Airport Facilities:

Freedom Air flies direct to Dunedin from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne - this will finish 30th March 2008 when Air New Zealand will become the primary carrier for these routes. Refer to www.freedomair.co.nz for flight schedules.

Air New Zealand fly direct into Dunedin from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, with a number of flights each day. Refer to www.airnewzealand.co.nz for flight schedules.

Mainland Air and Alpine Air, local airlines based at Dunedin International Airport, provide charter flights to almost anywhere in New Zealand, as well as 'flightseeing' tours to places like Milford Sound, Mount Cook, Queenstown and Stewart Island.  Road

Dunedin is situated on State Highway One, the main highway in New Zealand. Into Dunedin you can either come from Christchurch in the north or Invercargill in the south.

Road conditions are excellent. Good quality, uncongested roads. A few gravel roads exist in rural areas. New Zealanders drive on the left hand side of the road. The following estimated driving times allow for ‘comfort’ stops but not sightseeing:
